  1. Mind the details please 🙂

The previous plans were truly unlimited. These are with a FUP. For example 512kbps beyond 50GB for the 10Mbps plan — the same speed as you would get from a DSL connection at only 800Rs/month.

Also, please don’t compare 4G wireless to a FTTH product. Delay is much less, and mainly, the bandwidth is not shared with “everyone else who are currently using it”. Just look at 3G in India, totally useless in cities, because everyone are using it now. My prediction is, 4G will be the same.

That said: a FTTH connection for 3999,-/month is definitely good news. My colleagues in Esbjerg (Denmark) have 100mbps (no FUP) for 3500,-/month and the colleagues in Kyoto (Japan) have 100mbps (no FUP) for 1400,-/month. Maybe I will get the “cheap” 10mbps now, when it hits 2000,-/month I am sure I will get it! 🙂

    BR,

    1. Thanks for your comment Vijay P. India is developing country. I know how you feel when citizens of other countries are offered high-speed Internet at cheaper rates. I hope within next 10yrs we’ll have same scenario here in India. Let’s hope for the best.

      1. Don’t get me wrong please. The FTTH offer is great by Indian standards 🙂 Assuming they get everything right, the FTTH offer will mean a very reliable and low delay connection. My main point was that it’s not comparable to 4G, and that it has a FUP.

FUPs are sad here in India, but, not really BSNL’s fault, see: http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2012-08-19/news/33262531_1_cable-project-new-cable-internet-access (“cheapest” international traffic fee is 150000$/year in India, and $1200/year in Singapore). The real crooks here are Tata and Bharti.

        1. Yeah Vijay bro I understand. But still its a great move by BSNL. Let’s appreciate it! Nothing is truly unlimited in India 😉

          Thanks for your comment. 🙂

    1. I think pricing is OK. Just remove the FUPs 🙂 (i.e. 650 for 1Mbps I consider a good offer, just crappy that it get capped to half after 8GB).

      1. Hey Ayush , you seem to be a pro man! Pls suggest me a good bsnl plan type under like 1300 per month with good speed. Area – Noida .

        1. Hey if you are just looking for broadband, why don’t you look for private ISP. You’ll find much better speed with data limits.
